Research | Surveys | Montreal Cycling Survey 2024
About
The interdisciplinary research group TRAM (Transportation Research at McGill University) recently undertook research aimed at evaluating perceptions of how BIXI’s network and operational structure serves various populations in Montreal, as well as any potential barriers that may prevent BIXI users and non-users from reaping the full benefits of the bikeshare system. This research will be used to help BIXI and policymakers adapt their services and develop a more equitable bikeshare network in Montreal.
The survey and draw is now closed. The repondents’ participation is greatly appreciated.
The findings of the survey may be presented to different stakeholders in Montreal such as the City of Montreal and BIXI. Stakeholders will be presented with recommendations to further the development of an equitable framework for BIXI's operations. Other research resulting from the survey may be published in various academic journals and at conferences. All survey responses and email addresses will remain confidential, stored in password-protected files (through the platform McGill LimeSurvey) on a password-protected computer only to be accessed by researchers working under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Geneidy, and participants will not be identified in any publications or reports. Non-identifiable data gathered in this study may be kept for future research purposes.
You can find the preliminary findings of the research here, in English and French, as the team has generated a policy brief expanding upon the most dangerous intersections in Montréal identified by the respondents:
